Cape Muroto Lighthouse is a white iron lighthouse standing on a hill near Cape Muroto in the town of Cape Muroto, Muroto City, Kochi Prefecture. The surrounding area is designated as Muroto Anan Kaigan National Park and offers a scenic view of the Pacific Ocean. The distance of 26.5 nautical miles is the longest in Japan. It is also a first-class lighthouse with a first-class Fresnel lens of 2.6 meters in diameter, one of only five in Japan. It is also one of the 50 best lighthouses in Japan, and has been designated as a Grade A lighthouse by the Japan Coast Guard due to its historical value.
