Maetori Shrine is located in Shinomiya, Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The former shrine is a township shrine. It has also been called "Mae-tori-san" since ancient times.
It is said to be one of the thirteen shrines in the Engi-shiki family of shrines in Sagami Province listed in the Engi-shiki Shinmeicho of 927. It is one of the five Sagami shrines that participate in the Kounomachi Festival, a traditional festival of the former Sagami Province held every year on May 5 at Kami-sorai-yama in Kunifu Hongo, Oiso Town, and is the fourth shrine in the country. The name of the shrine's location, "Shinomiya," is a reference to the shrine.
