Hoshakuji Temple is a temple of the Chizan School of Shingon Buddhism located in Oyamazaki, Oyamazaki Town, Otokuni-gun, Kyoto Prefecture. The temple is located in Oyamazaki, Oyamazaki Town, Otokuni-gun, Kyoto Prefecture. The main deity is the eleven-faced Kannon. The temple is located halfway up Mt. The temple is said to have been founded by Gyoki, who received an imperial order from Emperor Shomu.
It is also called "Takara-dera" because it enshrines "uchiide" and "kozuchi", which Emperor Shomu is said to have received from the dragon god in a dream, and is also called Zenbaruyama Takara-dera or Daikokuten Takara-dera.
