Facts and practical information
Omido is a temple of the Toyoyama school of Shingon Buddhism located in Tsukuba, Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The name of the mountain is Mount Tsukuba. The main deity is the eleven-faced thousand-armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. It is the 25th temple of the 33 Kannon in the Bando area.
The temple was temporarily closed due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the early Meiji period. It is now a branch temple of Gokokuji Temple, the head temple of the Toyoyama school of Shingon Buddhism, located in Otsuka, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
