Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham, Luang Prabang

Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham, often simply referred to as Wat Mai, is a stunning temple located in the historic city of Luang Prabang, Laos. As one of the most prominent and beautiful temples in the city, Wat Mai serves not only as a place of worship but also as a significant cultural and architectural landmark.

Constructed in the late 18th century during the reign of King Anourout (Anurat), Wat Mai has undergone several restorations, most notably in the 19th century. During this time, the Phra Bang, the highly revered Buddha image which the city is named after, was brought to Wat Mai from the Royal Palace for ceremonial cleaning.
