Facts About White-crested hornbill
The white-crested hornbill, commonly known as the long-tailed hornbill, is a captivating bird native to the lush forests of Central and West Africa. The species is subdivided into three subspecies, primarily differentiated by the extent of white on their heads and necks and the presence of white tips on their wing-coverts.
These regal birds inhabit a broad range of countries, including Guinea, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Uganda, Angola, and Ghana. In West Africa, their distribution spans from southern Sierra Leone to Benin, encompassing regions such as Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, and Togo.
Although determining their exact population size is challenging, the white-crested hornbill remains relatively common throughout much of its range. Fortunately, the species is not currently considered to be at risk.
