Facts About Yellow-bearded greenbul
The yellow-bearded greenbul is a charming songbird from the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae, native to Western Africa. This bird has also been classified under the genus Xenocichla (a synonym for Bleda) and has sometimes been considered conspecific with the white-bearded greenbul.
Commonly known by various names such as olive bulbul, olive greenbul, olive-bearded bulbul, yellow-bearded bulbul, yellow-throated olive bulbul, and yellow-throated olive greenbul, it should not be confused with another distinct species called the olive bulbul (Iole virescens).
The yellow-bearded greenbul inhabits a range stretching from eastern Sierra Leone to southwestern Ghana. It thrives particularly in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. Unfortunately, this beautiful bird faces significant threats from habitat loss, putting its future at serious risk.
