Climate of Luxembourg

Luxembourg lies in a warm temperate climate zone influenced by maritime air masses. It is characterized by not too hot summers and mild winters. The southern regions are usually warmer than the mountainous north (Ardennes).

Summer temperatures fluctuate between 20°C and 25°C, hot days are not very frequent. In winter, as a rule, there is no great frost, the mercury bar falls to 0°C - 2°C, and snowfall is not a common occurrence. Rainfall is also not abundant, about 700 mm - 800 mm per year.

The mountainous regions are several degrees cooler than the rest of the country. In the warmest months, temperatures range from 15°C - 17°C, while in the coldest months there can be a dusting of snow and a light frost (up to -2°C). Annual precipitation is considerably higher than in the south, reaching 1,200 mm. Weather in these areas is sometimes changeable and unstable, with frequent cloud cover and drizzle.
