The Rova of Antananarivo is an iconic historical palace complex perched on the highest point of Madagascar's capital city, Antananarivo. Once the seat of the Kingdom of Madagascar, the Rova, or Queen's Palace, commands a majestic view over the sprawling city and its surrounding landscapes. The palace complex is a symbol of the Merina monarchy that ruled over the island from the 17th to the 19th century and is deeply woven into the nation's history.

The Rova's architecture is a unique blend of traditional Malagasy design and 19th-century European influences, reflecting the period of contact and cultural exchange during the monarchy's reign. The complex consists of several structures, including the remains of the wooden palace of King Andrianjaka, who is credited with founding Antananarivo in the 17th century.

Tragically, a fire in 1995 destroyed much of the Rova, including priceless royal artifacts and historical documents. Restoration efforts have been ongoing since then, with the aim to preserve and reconstruct this emblematic site. The main palace, known as Manjakamiadana, with its distinctive silhouette and stone walls, has been carefully restored with its iconic silver-grey roof, once again dominating the city skyline.
