Agneta, Ruurlo
Facts and practical information
Agneta is a peel, oil and grist mill built in 1851. In 1914 the mill was converted to a sawmill and corn mill. The mill is located on the Borculoseweg 36 in Ruurlo.
The mill has one saw frame and one pair of grinding stones consisting of 16der artificial stones of 140 cm diameter. The wooden saw frame was replaced by an iron one in 1950. The crankshaft of the saw frame can be driven either by the wind or electrically. The transmission is via a belt, which runs over a pulley. The pulley can be driven by the wind via a spindle, which in turn is driven by the track wheel. Nowadays, however, sawing is mainly done electrically. There is also a generator of our own manufacture installed for the generation of electricity, which is driven directly by the track wheel.
It is a round, stone mill of the rack type with a wood-covered cap. The cap has two buttresses. The long spout is behind the upper wheel.
The flight of the mill is 23 meters. The flight consists of iron, welded rods, which were made in 1982 by Groot Wesseldijk. The inner row with rod number 6 has Ten Have valves with Bussel noses and the outer row with rod number 7 Old Dutch fencing with Fauëlfokken.
The wheelbarrow in the cap of the mill is fitted with an English wheelbarrow and is seasoned with a wheelbarrow. Previously, there has been a roller wheelbarrow with wooden roller carriages and wooden rollers. For the installation of the English wheelbarrow, the masonry of the mill was slightly raised. The carding boxes are still present, as well as the roller lock. The long sprue is located behind the top wheel.
The lazy work consists of a trailing crank.
The topshaft from 1878 is of cast iron and made by the manufacturer L.I. Enthoven & Co from 's Gravenhage. The catch, which slows down the sails, is a Flemish catch operated by a catch drum. The catch blocks are made of laminated wood. Instead of a rest and driving light there is a chain on the toe piece. The catch drum consists of a rebuilt sloth.
The twisted kingpin is reinforced with angle irons and iron slings.
The mill was restored in 1975, 1985, 1994 and 2003.
