Adam, Delfzijl
Facts and practical information
The Adam is a corn mill and formerly a hulling mill in Delfzijl, Groningen.
Originally the Adam stood together with the Eva as a polder mill in the area of Bedum. In 1818 the Eva moved to Usquert, where its successor still stands today. The Adam was first rebuilt in Bedum itself as a hulling mill and was then demolished and rebuilt in 1875 in Delfzijl as a corn and hulling mill. The mill fell out of use after the Second World War, the peeling mechanism was demolished from the mill during this period, and was sold to the municipality of Delfzijl in 1954. After restoration in the late 1950s, the mill was put into use as the 'Museum Molen Adam'. The substructure still serves as an exhibition space for paintings.
