Hackforter Molen, Vorden
Facts and practical information
De Hackfortsche Molen is a corn mill in Vorden in the Dutch province of Gelderland.
The mill was built in 1851 and was restored in 1967, 1974 and 1985. From its construction until 1960, the mill was owned by the barons Van Westerholt van Hackfort of the nearby Castle Hackfort. In 1960, the mill was purchased by the then municipality of Vorden. The current owner is the municipality of Bronckhorst.
The mill's rods are 23 meters long and are equipped with the Van Bussel system, on the inner rod in combination with the Ten Have system with chain wheel and rack, on the outer rod with sails. The equipment consists of two pairs of grinding stones. A volunteer miller occasionally grinds the mill on wind power.
