Marina Seaport IJmuiden
Facts and practical information
Marina Seaport IJmuiden is the seagoing marina of IJmuiden and is located in the recreational area IJmuiden aan Zee. Construction began on 7 April 1993, with the grand opening taking place on 3 June 1994.
The marina is located outside the locks, at the mouth of the North Sea Canal. This allows ships to enter and exit the harbor from and to the North Sea without being locked out. Until 2011, the Hiswa te Water was held every year in September in the Marina Seaport IJmuiden. As of 2012, it will take place at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam. The Marina was developed by Willem Smit and René Coltof and later acquired by Amsterdam real estate trader Willem Endstra, who was murdered in 2004.
