Teaterparken, Bergen
Facts and practical information
The theater park is a small park in the center of Bergen, which is in front of the National Scene in Strøket Engen in the Bergenhus district. The original park was built on site in the 1850s. It was used as a party space until the theater was built from 1906 to 1909. The theater park and the new theater were completed at the same time; The theater was designed in the Art Nouveau by architect Einar Oscar Schou, and the park planned as a Art Nouveau Park. After the city fire in 1916, there was a change again, as the tram route that then cut through the park, then was moved outside.
In 1993, the National Scene was given the status of national theater, and the park and the building were protected.
