Obelisk Orłów Śląskich, Katowice
Facts and practical information
Silesian Eagles Obelisk - located in downtown Katowice, this monument commemorates the site where the Silesian Museum building was erected before World War II.
The obelisk with the sculpture of two soaring eagles stands in the corner of Katowice's Bolesław Chrobry Square. It is a symbol of the return of Silesia to the Motherland. Before World War II, a modern building of the Silesian Museum was erected in that place. Preparations to open the museum were interrupted by the arrival of the German occupation.
