Ławeczka Heliodora Święcickiego, Poznań

Heliodor Święcicki's Bench in Poznań - a street monument-bench of the first rector of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Heliodor Święcicki, located in Poznań in front of the Collegium Minus, on Henryka Wieniawskiego Street, within the Imperial Quarter.

The bench was unveiled on 8 May 2010 and was funded by the Adam Mickiewicz University, the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation and the Association of Adam Mickiewicz University Alumni. The unveiling was attended by: Rector Bronisław Marciniak, Heliodor Święcicki's family, Bogdan Marciniec - President of the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation, Jerzy Kepel - President of SAUAM, Krystyna Poslednia - Member of the Board of Directors of Wielkopolskie Voivodship and numerous citizens and supporters of the University.

The author of the sculpture is Grzegorz Godawa. The statue, made entirely of bronze, presents the rector sitting on a massive bench. The gaze of Święcicki is directed towards the monument of Adam Mickiewicz - the patron of the University and the Imperial Castle - the first seat of the Piast University after its establishment in 1919. The first academic year was inaugurated exactly on 7 May.

The unveiling ceremony was held as part of UAM's Great May Day, the University's Jubilee Decade, and was also included in the program of the 6th SAUAM Convention. Since its inception, the bench has become a popular location for graduation photographs.
