The Podkarpackie Museum in Krosno was established in 1954 as the Regional Museum of PTTK, in 1958 it became a state institution under the name Museum in Krosno, and since 1975. - The Regional Museum. In 2000, it adopted its present name.
It is located in the Old Town, at 16 Pilsudski Street, in the historic building of the former Bishop's Palace. The museum has the following sections: archaeological, historical, artistic, history of lighting, history of glass and the glass industry, educational and promotional, administrative and economic, financial and accounting, and library.

In Trzcinica near Jaslo is located the Archaeological Open Air Museum "Karpacka Troja", which is a division of the Podkarpackie Museum in Krosno.
