Garrison Church of St. Casimir the King - garrison church of the Polish Army in Katowice.
The church was built in the functionalist style, constructed in 1930-1933, designed by Leon Dietz d'Army and Jan Zarzycki, and built by Jan Widuch in Nicolaus Copernicus Street.
On September 28, 1930, Field Bishop Stanislaw Gall consecrated the cornerstone of the garrison church at the then Kopernika Street. The church was consecrated on November 22, 1931.
The Garrison Church is the first functionalist building built by the Catholic Church in Poland.
Inside, there are original furnishings in the art déco style: a stone main and side altars, a balustrade, a baptismal font, sculptures, confessionals, pews, lamps, and stained glass windows. Sculpture of Christ by Marian Spindler, reliefs of the Stations of the Cross by Zofia Trzcińska-Kamińska, sculpture of St. Anthony of Padua by Karol Muszkiet.
