Ławeczka Józefa Kostrzewskiego, Poznań

Józef Kostrzewski Bench in Poznań - a monument in Poznań in the form of a bench with a seated figure of Professor Józef Kostrzewski, archaeologist and one of the founders of Adam Mickiewicz University. The bench was originally located in the Castle Garden, near Collegium Maius and Collegium Minus, within the Imperial Quarter. In 2016, it was moved to the Morasko Campus, under the Collegium Historicum - the then seat of the former UAM Department of History and the current UAM Department of Archaeology and UAM Department of History.

The memorial, funded by Adam Mickiewicz University and the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation, was placed on 12 October 2012 and officially unveiled on 16 October 2012 by the Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University, Professor Bronisław Marciniak, and the President of the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation, Professor Bogdan Marciniec. The ceremony was attended by the university authorities, the authorities of the Foundation, the authorities of the city of Poznañ, invited guests and the academic community of UAM as well as the family and students of Professor Józef Kostrzewski.

The author of the sculpture is Grzegorz Godawa. The monument, made entirely of bronze, presents the professor sitting on a massive bench. Kostrzewski's gaze is directed towards Collegium Maius.

The bench was casted by Zakład Odlewów Artystycznych w Brzzie "Brązart S.C." from Pleszew.

The bench of Józef Kostrzewski is one of four such objects commemorating the founders of the Piast University of Technology, next to the bench of Heliodor Święcicki, unveiled in 2010 and dedicated to the first rector of the university. Other monuments-benches were unveiled in 2019 and commemorate the other founders of the university - Stanisław Kozierowski and Michał Sobeski.
