Kościół pw. Najświętszego Zbawiciela, Poznań
Facts and practical information
Church of the Most Holy Savior - a historic church at 11 Fredry Street in the Imperial Quarter of Poznań, built between 1866-1869 in neo-Gothic style according to a design by August Stüler and detailed plans by Juliusz Hochberger for the Evangelical parish. The founder was Frederick William IV, who donated over 56 thousand thalers for this purpose. Initially the church was named after St. Paul, but after it was occupied by Catholics in 1945, it was changed to its present name. In 1950 Archbishop Walenty Dymek erected a new parish here. Renovation after war damages was completed only in 1964.
From the outside, the most characteristic element is the tower rising to 70 meters. The neo-Gothic portal has a tondo depicting the head of Christ, with a rosette above. The interior has three naves, covered with a stellar vault in the main nave and cross vault in the side naves. From the original decoration only shortened galleries remained, a baptismal font made between 1867 and 1869 and an organ prospectus from 1912. The stained glass windows in the chancel come from 1959 and were made by Józef Oźmin. The ones in the chancel depict the Adoration of the Child Jesus, the Deposition from the Cross, and the Ascension. In the chancel there is a sculpture of the Passion by Lech Czub. In the left side altar there is a representation of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and on the right side - of Divine Mercy. On the sides of the altars, images of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Thaddeus Jude
By the church there is the Piotr Majchrzak Boulder with the inscription: If people fall silent, stones will cry out, dedicated to Piotr Majchrzak, who was beaten by the ZOMO on March 11, 1982, at the age of 19. He died on March 18. Near the church, in front of the former pastor's house, built in the years 1886-1887, there is a monument of Jesus Christ by Eugeniusz Olechowski, unveiled in 2000, commemorating two thousand years of Christianity and the 50th anniversary of the parish.
Today, many consider the church to be one of the most important works of 19th century Neo-Gothic in Poland.

A chapel from 1896 has been preserved in the former Evangelical cemetery of St. Paul's parish on Grunwaldzka Street.
