Stela Heinza Macka, Poznań
Facts and practical information
Heinz Mack's Stela - an 18-meter-tall outdoor sculpture by Heinz Mack, located in the center of Poznań, in the axis of the central part of Marcinkowski Avenue, directly in front of the old National Museum building.
The object was unveiled on November 23, 2006, accompanied by an exhibition of the artist's works in other countries. It is a vertical work, very characteristic of the artist's oeuvre, in the form of a tall steel pole with a revolving head driven by a motor. The head in the form of an asymmetrical crown, rotating around its own axis, at various times of the day and night reflects various solar or artificial reflections on the facades of buildings around Wolności Square and Marcinkowskiego Avenue. The core of the stele is decorated with elongated blanks made of polished sheet metal.
The originator of the object was the Wielkopolska Association for the Encouragement of Fine Arts. The monument is part of the cultural and monumental program of the central part of Marcinkowskiego Avenue.
The author creates similar projects in many European and non-European countries, especially in Germany.
