Kościół Znalezienia Krzyża Świętego
Facts and practical information
Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the town of Brzostek, in Podkarpackie province. It belongs to Brzostek deanery of Rzeszów diocese.
The present church was built in classicist style in the years 1812-1818 and was consecrated on October 23, 1923. During World War II the building suffered severe damage. The tower was destroyed by a shell, and the roof of the temple, the organ and the equipment were consumed by fire. Fortunately, the altars were not damaged. After the war ended, the temple was rebuilt and restored. At the end of the 20th century, the church was expanded with side aisles, new polychrome was laid, and the altar of St. Leonard was restored. This altar comes from the church in Klece and represents the Renaissance style. The antique baptismal font also comes from this church.
