Kościół pw. Świętego Marcina w Wodzisławiu
Facts and practical information
Saint Martin's Church in Wodzisław is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the former town, now municipal village of Wodzisław, in Świętokrzyskie Province. It belongs to the Wodzisław deanery of the Kielce diocese.
The present brick temple, founded by Samuel Lanckoroński, the starost of Małogośc, was erected in the years 1621-1644. In 1664 the building was consecrated by bishop Mikołaj Oborski. In 1746 the church was burned down. In 1751 it was rebuilt thanks to the efforts of parish priest Serwinski. In 1781 the building burned down once again. In 1787 it was rebuilt thanks to the funds of Maciej Lanckoroński, Voivode of Bracław. Probably for financial reasons the church was not rebuilt in the Italian style. In 1910 the western façade was faced with brick thanks to the efforts of parish priest Bogumil Bitner.
The church was built in Baroque style. It has a two-bay nave. The main altar and two side altars represent the classical style.
