Cerkiew św. Dymitra
Facts and practical information
St. Dmitri's Church in Tinianovice - a wooden Greek Catholic church, located in Tinianovice.
The church dates from 1709. It is a tripartite church of log construction set on a stone foundation. The main room of the church is an octagonal nave covered with an eight-sided tent roof topped with a little bell tower. Adjoining the nave from the east is a lower, trilaterally closed presbytery covered with a five-sided roof and from the west - a rectangular chancery covered with a six-sided roof.
The church was repaired in 1779, 1817 and 1934. During the second repair a wooden bell tower was erected. Originally it was covered with shingles, now it is covered with sheet metal.
From 1947 until the 1980s the church served as a Roman Catholic church. During the renovation in the 70s of the twentieth century, the form of the roof finial over the nave was changed to a little tower and the bell tower was demolished. Currently the church serves as a storage place for religious decorations for the local parish. Inside there are still remains of the old furnishings.
The church is included in the objects of the Wooden Architecture Route.
