Żabia Turnia Mięguszowiecka, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Żabia Turnia Mięguszowiecka - Tatra peak, located in the main ridge, on the Polish-Slovakian border, between Żabi Koni - separated by Żabia Przełęcz Wyżnia - and Wołowa Turnia - separated by Żabia Przełęcz Mięguszowiecka.
The Frog Turnia Mengusovská belongs to the Volí Ridge and is its south-easternmost peak. It towers over Rybí Potok and Žabia Mengusovská dolina, from which it got its name. In southern direction a side ridge separates the Volia kotlinka from Kotlinka pod Žabím koňom, both situated in the Žabí Valley. Onlyva vežička is visible in the ridge, separated from the top of Žabí Mengusovská Turnia by narrow Tylkova štrbina.
From the north the summit falls with a high wall, limited by two chimneys descending from the passes neighboring with the Frog Turnia. From the south the peak is relatively easy accessible. The view from the top is not very wide.
The northern wall of the Frog's Mountain Turnia Mięguszowiecka descends to a large and scree terrace. It has a denivelation of about 350 m and its lateral limit is formed by the chimneys descending from the Upper and Upper Frog Passes. In this wall three separate floors are distinguished. The lower and upper one is steep and overhanging in places, the middle one is medium steep but built of smooth plates, a large part of which are tectonic mirrors. In summer, they give the possibility to retreat to one side or the other, but in winter they are a serious problem. The steepest part of the wall is directly above these plates.
