Dom Bractwa Strzeleckiego
Facts and practical information
Shooting House - a house located in Stargard on the edge of Panorama Park, on Protective Street.
The complex of three buildings was built in 1861. The largest of them is a two-story building with two wings. The façade of the building is decorated with a splendid risalit, its ground floor part - with a five-bay portico.
Until 1945, the building was managed by the Bractwo Kurkowe; the house served as a meeting place for its members. Nearby there was a shooting range, where in 1936 the qualification round for the Berlin Olympics took place. During the war the palace was used as a lazarette.
After the war, in 1958, the buildings were leased to the National Defence League. The east wing housed the Panorama cinema and concert hall. In 1970, as a result of the deteriorating condition of the structure, the roof over the cinema hall collapsed. Soon, the entire wing of the building with the cinema was closed, and in 1988, it was demolished. After the cinema was closed, the building deteriorated for several years.
Today, the Chimes Fraternity House is privately owned; the building has been restored and is a venue for balls and banquets.
