Park Henryka Wieniawskiego, Poznań
Facts and practical information
Henryk Wieniawski Park - a historic city park, located in the center of Poznań, in the northern part of the Imperial Quarter, adjacent to the Grand Theatre.
The park, established between 1907-1910, is located between the railroad tracks and Fredry, Wieniawski and Noskowski streets. In its southern part there is a toboggan hill, whose top is equipped with old small architecture elements. Next to it, there is a small restaurant pavilion, customarily called Pegasus Inn. Much of the old tree stand was destroyed in 1945, during the fights for Poznan.
There are about 260 trees of 34 species in the park. The oldest of them date back to the period when the park was created. The most valuable are two specimens - the narrow-leaved olive and the western elm tree.
Through Fredry Street, the park neighbors the former Mortgage List Bank and Adolf Landsberg's villa, and from the south, the PAN Center, the Polish Underground State monument, and the former boarding house of Apoleni Jan Michalik. In the western part of the park stands a defunct, old railroad switching station and its new counterpart.
