Kościół pw. Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny w Gorajcu
Facts and practical information
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gorajec from the 16th century. - belongs to the oldest objects of wooden church construction in Poland. In addition to the church from this period and in this area, there is an Orthodox church in Radruż in Poland and Orthodox churches in Potylicz and Wola Wysocka in Ukrainian Roztocze. Until the beginning of the 1990s, the church was dated to the mid-18th century and therefore it did not arouse much interest and rarely appeared in publications. Research conducted during the renovation in 1995, in particular the discovery of the original polychromies, showed that the church is 200 years older.
The church was inscribed on the list of monuments in 1986 and included in the Podkarpackie Wooden Architecture Route.
