Synagoga
Facts and practical information
Synagogue in Cieszanów - synagogue located in Cieszanów at 7 Skorupki Street.
Built in 1889, it was devastated by the Germans during World War II. After the liberation of the city in 1944, it was used as a warehouse. Since the early 1990s, the building has remained abandoned in a closed ruin.
The brick synagogue building was erected on a square plan. On both sides it is surrounded by annexes, which housed the synagogue and the institutions of the Jewish community. Inside, a single-space prayer hall has been preserved - currently without any traces of the former furnishings and wall paintings. The original high windows with semicircular ends were bricked up after the war and in their lower part smaller square window openings were forged.
