Kościół Przemienienia Pańskiego
Facts and practical information
Transfiguration Church in Mieszkowice is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the town of Mieszkowice, West Pomeranian Province, on Jana Pawła II Street.
It is an early Gothic building from the 14th century, with an older part built of stones before 1297, enriched with a granite portal.
It was originally a hall church, but in the 14th century the north wall was demolished and a side aisle was built, the south wall was raised with bricks and new Gothic windows were broken. As a result, today's church is a two-nave Gothic church with the northern nave lower than the main nave.
The only preserved parts of the old equipment are a stoup made of Gotland limestone and two wooden figures of evangelists.
The present furnishings are neo-Gothic: the main altar with the oil painting of the Transfiguration painted by C.G. Pfannschmidt, the altar cross made of cast iron, the carved wood paneling in the chancel, the pulpit decorated with wood carving, the organ made by the Manboorg company, four richly decorated candlesticks and benches standing in the main nave and the side gallery.
