Ratusz w Strumieniu
Facts and practical information
Strumien Town Hall - a historic town hall located in the town of Strumien, at the western elevation of the market square, between the 19th century tenements. Erected in 1628, at the end of the 18th century it was transformed in the Baroque style. After the town fire in 1793 it was rebuilt thanks to the help of Prince Albert Sasko-Cieszyński. Until its reconstruction in the 19th century it had two stories, now it has three of them, built on a rectangular plan.
In the axis of the elevation, there is a small risalit leading to a baroque tower with truncated corners covered with lisens. The top of the tower is topped with a prominent cornice, which surrounds dials with clocks. The helmet of the tower is spherical, made of sheet metal. It has a gloriette and is topped with a spire with a metal arrow on the top.
The town hall is entered on the axis of the rusticated first floor. On the first floor there is a vestibule vaulted with sails, just like other rooms on this floor. The oldest element of the town hall are the cellars with barrel vaults. The windows of the building have plaster bands, on the first and second floors there are stone cornices above the windows. A cordon cornice separates the floors.
Currently, the Town Hall houses the Town Office, the Municipal Council and the Registry Office. The renovated cellars house the "Pod Ratuszem" Gallery.
The Town Hall in Strumien is the oldest seat of municipal authorities in the Silesian Province.
