Kościół pw. Nawiedzenia NMP
Facts and practical information
Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Grabówka - a non-existent wooden church that was located in Grabówka, in the Grabownica deanery.
The church was built between 1624-1631 by Hieronim Nagorski. Originally it was located in Grabownica Starzeńska. In 1921, when a brick temple was built in Grabownica, the church was moved to Grabowka, where a parish of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was established. It was a one-nave building, of a log construction, with a rectangular chancel. On the choir there was an eighteenth-century organ prospectus. The roofs were of gable construction, covered with sheet metal and topped with an octagonal turret with a lantern. The walls were covered with boarding.
The equipment came from the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, and the most valuable items were the rainbow beam with a seventeenth-century crucifix and the figures of the Virgin Mary and St. John from the nineteenth century. In the presbytery there were 3 icons that came from St. Nicholas Church in Grabówka.
During the night of April 18-19, 2007, a fire broke out that severely damaged the church. The planned reconstruction was eventually abandoned.
In 2008-2010, a new brick parish church was built not far from the burned temple.
