Praia da Barra, Gafanha da Nazaré
Facts and practical information
Barra beach is located on the west coast of Portugal, in the district of Aveiro, and where the Aveiro ria connects to the sea. Administratively it is in the municipality of Ílhavo, in the parish of Gafanha da Nazaré. To the south it faces the beach of Costa Nova do Prado. To the north is the beach of São Jacinto.
The existing built patrimony includes the Barra Lighthouse, the Barra Bridge and the sea wall. This wall delimits to the south the entrance to the bar of the Port of Aveiro, and is about 500 m long, entering by the sea. This wall separates the existing sand, leaving the beach of the half-orange to the north, and the south, the beach of Barra itself. This beach is a watched beach. The existing church is dedicated to the Holy Family. It is next to the Barra Camping site.
It is located in the tourist area Rota da Luz/Região Centro.
