Praia de Santo António
Facts and practical information
Praia de Santo António Beach is a beach located in the parish and municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, being the easternmost beach in the Algarve and in Portugal. It is located east of Monte Gordo Beach and west of the mouth of the Guadiana River, thus being part of the coast of Monte Gordo Bay, near Ponta da Areia. Like the neighboring Monte Gordo Beach, it has warm and calm waters.
The beach is accessible via paths through the National Coastal Dunes Forest of Vila Real de Santo António or, in high season, by a tourist train, at a cost of 1€ per journey, provided by the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António.
The mouth of the Guadiana, the National Forest and the Nature Reserve of the Marshland of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António provide the landscape framework.
