The Elevador de Santa Justa stands as an iconic structure in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal. This wrought-iron elevator, which soars to a height of 45 meters, was inaugurated in 1902 and has since become an indispensable sight for tourists exploring the city. Designed by the engineer Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, who was an apprentice of Gustave Eiffel, the elevator showcases a striking neo-gothic design. The Elevador de Santa Justa has two cabins that ferry passengers up the steep hill, offering a quick and scenic route that bypasses the arduous climb. At the top, a viewing platform allows for breathtaking panoramic views of the city, including the Baixa district, the Tagus River, and the ruins of the Carmo Convent.

Open to the public throughout the year, the elevator provides both a day and night experience, with Lisbon's cityscape taking on a different character under the glow of the streetlights. While the cabins transport visitors up and down, there is also the option to access the viewing platform via a spiral staircase, adding another element of charm to the visit.
