Facts About Untold Festival
The Untold Festival is Romania's premier electronic music event, held annually in Cluj-Napoca at the Cluj Arena. It earned the title of Best Major Festival at the European Festival Awards in 2015. This festival isn't just a local phenomenon; it attracts music enthusiasts from across Europe, Asia, and North America.
Untold's journey unfolds like a storybook, with each year marking a new chapter. It all began in 2015 with Chapter 1, featuring renowned artists such as Armin van Buuren, Avicii, and David Guetta. Each successive chapter has brought in more celebrated DJs and live performers, enhancing the festival's popularity every year. By Chapter 5 in 2019, the festival reached a pinnacle with over 370,000 attendees over four days.
But Untold is more than just music. It has become a global ambassador for Romania and Transylvania. In 2016, the festival collaborated with notable Romanian tourist attractions like Bran Castle and the Turda Salt Mines to offer visitors discounted rates, thereby promoting the country’s rich culture and history.
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted plans for the sixth edition, which was scheduled for 2021. Organizers had to postpone it, offering ticket holders the option of a refund or transferring their tickets to a future event.
Despite this setback, Untold Festival remains a pivotal cultural event, highlighting Romania's vibrant music scene and bolstering tourism in the region.
