The wooden church of Breb stands out as one of the most significant monuments of its kind in Maramures, Transylvania and the whole country, primarily due to the age of the building structure, from 1622, the tower from 1531, the oldest preserved and firmly dated wooden churches in the country, then by the partially visible mural painting of 1626, one of the oldest preserved in wooden churches in the country, by the valuable collection of 17th, 18th and 19th century icons, the unique carving of the vault beam, and by the archaic roof preserved under the present one.
The church is part of a well-preserved traditional religious architectural ensemble, consisting of an enclosure with stones for memorials and consecrations, a cemetery with stone, wooden and iron crosses from different periods, a bell tower from 1992, wooden gates, one of which dates from 1790, and a parish house from 1903 on the site of the original one from 1801. To this ensemble can be added boundary and road crosses preserved from forgotten ages in places of great natural beauty. Local traditions and rituals, still alive today, are interwoven around the shrine and the architectural ensemble.
