Climate of Samoa
The islands of Samoa have a humid equatorial climate. It is characterized by high air temperatures reaching 27°C - 30°C and abundant rainfall ranging from 3000 mm on the northern and western coasts to 7000 mm in the central (mountainous) part of the country. Water temperatures fluctuate between 25°C - 29°C throughout the year. Winds blowing from the southeast bring a cooling breeze in the late afternoon and evening.
On the islands we can distinguish between rainy and dry seasons.
The rainy season lasts from November to April, and it is slightly warmer then than in the other months, but also wetter. The wettest months are December and January. In between the intense but short-lived downpours, you can still count on bright and cloudless skies.
The dry season covers the period from May to October. Most warm and sunny days (slightly cooler than in the rainy season) encourage relaxation. There may be some fleeting rainfall, but it is not oppressive.
