Singapore lies in the humid equatorial climate zone. It is characterized by high but constant temperatures, plenty of rainfall and high humidity levels - above 75%.

The average monthly air temperature ranges from 26°C to 30°C. Precipitation occurs year-round and is shaped by the mild southwest monsoon (which blows from May to September) and the much rainier northeast monsoon (from November to March). The rains take the form of intense but short-lived downpours, and are also accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Average annual precipitation oscillates around 2,500 mm.
