The Zobor Mountain, Nitra
Facts and practical information
See-a limestone peak designating the southwestern edge of the Trybecz mountain range in Slovakia. His massif is driven with a wedge into the Danube Lowland area, adjacent to the northern Nitra housing estates. Apart from Žibrica, it is one of the two dominant of a small, clearly separating the mountain group of the Widzoru.
Less than 500 m at south-west From the main top of the mountain, separated from it by a plate, called Sedlo Pod Waga, there is a combination of a short, wide and splashed back, today referred to as Pyramída. The top is included in the Protected Landscape Area of Ponitrie. Some of the western slopes are protected as a Wiadorská lesosostep nature reserve. The first mention of the summit appears in the years 1111-1113 as de zuburiensis. The name may be derived from the mythical Slavic ruler of this region - the see that resided upstairs. In the forests around the summit there are remains of a long -medium -medieval earth embankment system of an early medieval refugial stronghold.
