Minčol
Facts and practical information
Minčol - the highest peak of the Czerchowskie Mountains in eastern Slovakia. It rises in the northwestern part of this mountain group. The peak is covered with extensive clearing. On the eastern slopes of the mountain, the source of the top beats. The shortest entrance leads from the village of Livovská Huta.
Minčol is a channel for 4 ridges: southwestern, through Lysa Hora falling into the ľubotínska Pahorkatina valley, northwestern to the mini miničolík peak, north-east to the summit of Malý minčol, south-eastern running through Lazy and Hyrova to the Pass Ždiare.
They lead to the mines with all these ridges.
At the top there is a reinforced concrete obelisk, erected in the first half of the 1930s as one of the seventeen main points of the Czechoslovak triangulation network of the first row. It shows the coats of arms of three cities - the seat of poviats, whose borders are in contact with the top of Minčol: Bardiowa, Stara Lubowli and Sabinov and the coat of arms of the capital of the Preszów - Preszowa country. The occasional plaque commemorates the XXVI Rally of Slovak tourists from 1979, which took place in nearby Lipany..
The very peak and a significant part of the ridges in its immediate surroundings include the Čergovský minčol nature reserve. The area of the peak and the whole ridge from Minčol to Lazy are grassy. These are the remains of former shepherd's halls, already overgrown with Borówczys. Thanks to this, a wide viewing panorama extends to the Minkol and his ridge to the top of Lazy. On Minčol itself, the views to the southern side obscure the trees. The widest views are from the unnamed top with the cross between the Minčol and the Laza.
