Kamenický hrad
Facts and practical information
Camenica Castle - ruins of the castle in the town of Kamelenica, Slovakia. They are located on the Zámok Hill built of limestone rocks, at the western foot of the Czerchowskie Mountains.
The castle was erected in the 13th century. It was captured in 1558 by imperial army and after conquering. In 1811, the rock material and the remaining remains of the castle were used to build a local distillery. Only the remains of the tower remained. Currently, the castle was partially reconstructed and the entire castle hill has been made available for sightseeing by making a network of paths.
A marked educational path with information boards leads to the castle ruins. The peak of the castle hill is landless and thanks to this it is a very good viewpoint. Panorama includes the Czerchowskie Mountains, the Lewocki and Spišsko-šarišské Medzihorie with his towns.
