Nestled in the heart of the Vihorlat Mountains in eastern Slovakia, Morské oko is a picturesque glacial lake that captivates visitors with its tranquil beauty. Morské oko, which translates to "Eye of the Sea," is the largest and deepest of the Slovakian mountain lakes. At an altitude of approximately 618 meters, the lake covers an area of about 13 hectares and reaches depths of up to 25 meters. The clear waters of Morské oko are home to a variety of fish species, making it a popular spot for anglers, while the surrounding trails offer hikers the chance to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the area.
The lake is accessible by foot or by a forest road that allows for a leisurely approach, ensuring that the natural beauty of the site is preserved. Visitors can enjoy the serenity of the lake from a wooden walkway that encircles it, providing stunning views and opportunities for photography.
