Facts About Asia Song Festival
The Asia Song Festival, frequently referred to as A-Song-Fe or ASF, is an annual celebration of Asian pop music held in South Korea since 2004. This vibrant event, organized by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange, brings together artists from across Asia. Each year, participants gain recognition from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and receive the esteemed "Best Asian Artist" title from the chairman of the foundation.
One of the festival's standout performances has been by the South Korean boy band TVXQ, who graced the stage for five consecutive years beginning with the festival's inception in 2004.
The Asia Song Festival is not merely a local event; it has achieved global acclaim. In South Korea, it is broadcasted on the Seoul Broadcasting System, while in Japan, it airs on Fuji TV. The festival’s influence extends further, being shown on major networks in the United States, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Finland, Bulgaria, Vietnam, and Singapore.
A memorable highlight from the 2011 festival was the release of its theme song, "Dreams Come True." This heartfelt duet by Lee Donghae of Super Junior and Seohyun of Girls' Generation was released as a digital single on October 11, 2011. Even more inspiring, all proceeds from the song's sales were donated to UNICEF to support children in African countries.
