Facts About Iberian emerald lizard
The Iberian emerald lizard, also known as Schreiber's green lizard or "lagarto verdinegro" in Spanish, is a captivating reptile native to the Iberian Peninsula. This lizard belongs to the Lacertidae family and derives its scientific name, *Lacerta schreiberi*, in honor of the Austrian zoologist Egid Schreiber.
These lizards inhabit a variety of environments, including temperate forests, shrublands, regions with Mediterranean vegetation, areas near rivers, and pasturelands. They are relatively large, measuring approximately 13.5 centimeters from snout to the base of the tail and about 38 centimeters in total length, including the tail.
The Iberian emerald lizard primarily feeds on insects, but it also preys on smaller lizards such as the Iberian wall lizard and the large psammodromus.
