The Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves is a small Catholic temple located next to the Parador de Turismo de Las Cañadas del Teide within the Teide National Park on the Canary Island of Tenerife. This hermitage stands out for being the highest Christian temple in Spain and is dedicated to the Virgen de las Nieves or Santa María la Mayor.
It has a single rectangular nave and a small arched portico at the front and back of the façade. Masses are celebrated there on Sundays and holidays at 13:00 h, and it depends on the Archpriesthood of La Orotava.
Inside the chapel, the delicate white marble image of the Virgin of the Snows with the child in her arms and the replica of the World Youth Day Youth Cross stand out. This cross commemorates the World Youth Day of Madrid 2011. This cross that is venerated in the Chapel of the Virgin of the Snows was blessed on November 12, 2011, in the framework of the Diocesan Meeting by the Bishop of the Diocese of Tenerife and has the official logo of the WYD of Madrid 2011 printed on it. This cross will go on pilgrimage to the different archpriests of the diocese.
