Facts and practical information
The urban sculpture known by the name Structure, located in the Plaza del General Primo de Rivera, in the city of Oviedo, Principality of Asturias, Spain, is one of more than a hundred that adorn the streets of the aforementioned Spanish city.
The urban landscape of this city, is adorned by sculptural works, generally commemorative monuments dedicated to characters of special relevance at first, and more purely artistic since the late twentieth century.
In 1982 a new shopping centre was built, the Salesas Shopping Centre in Oviedo, with access from General Elorza and Caveda streets. This complex broke with the traditional conception of trade and completed the same construction of an underground car park in the Plaza del General Primo de Rivera, which is why it was remodeled by the construction company and topped with a sculpture in 1982. The piece, of unknown author, is supposed to be a symbol of the underground parking, and is formed by a concrete piece of semicircular shape, from which emerge, or are nailed, two steel masts, which come to symbolize the foundations of the buildings in the interior of the land.
