Castell de Ratera
Facts and practical information
Ratera Castle, also known as Ratera Mill Castle is located in the municipality of Els Plans de Sió in the Segarra region.
It dates back to the 9th century, when it was most probably a second fortification of the Concabella castle, as it is in fact in the municipality of Concabella.
During the 14th and 15th centuries it became a Gothic manor house. Later, in the 16th century, a mill was added that took advantage of the course of the river Sió.
In the middle of the 20th century it was restored by the architect Joaquim Vilaseca i Rivera. It is currently privately owned and its interior cannot be visited.
