Facts and practical information
The loceras of El Cercado are one of the groups of women potters of one of the most traditional centers in the Canary Islands. The historian Natacha Seseña cited in 1997, as extinct, six others on the island of La Gomera: Alajeró, Arure, Benchijigua, El Gato, Erque and La Fortaleza. The same author notes five active potteries, all female and archaic.
