Facts and practical information
The castle of Castalla, in the province of Alicante, is a fortress of Islamic origin built in the 11th century on remains from the Neolithic and Ibero-Roman period, with later Christian reforms from the 14th to 16th centuries. It is located on a hill overlooking the town and the course of the Verde river.
The current constructions are from the end of the late Middle Ages and some from the beginning of the Modern Age.
